Disability Rights Rhode Island (DRRI) is here to help people get accurate information and resources about the COVID-19 vaccine and testing.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older receive COVID-19 vaccines as well as booster shots. In Rhode Island, the vaccine is available for free.
Staying up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines is important. So is getting your booster shots. Vaccines lower your risk of getting very sick or being hospitalized.
You can see the CDC’s vaccine recommendation for people your age at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html.
Where to get a COVID-19 vaccine if you cannot leave your home:
Rhode Island has options for individuals who are unable to leave their home for a vaccination appointment. You may contact your home health provider to see if they are offering the vaccine or visit https://covid.ri.gov/prevent/vaccination#athome to find other vaccine providers.
Free at-home COVID-19 tests are available through U.S. Postal Service:
Your household can order one set of free at-home tests by filing out a form online at https://special.usps.com/testkits. One set contains four COVID-19 tests.
Where to get Covid 19 testing if you are blind or visually impaired:
Free at-home accessible COVID-19 tests are available for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. You can call the CDC Information line at 1-800-232-0233 to order the tests. Or you can order the tests through the Disability Information and Access Line by either calling 888-677-1199, visiting the DIAL website at https://dial.acl.gov/ for chat and ASL services, or emailing DIAL@usaginganddisability.org.
