DRRI’s Client Assistance Program (CAP) can help you apply for vocational rehabilitation (VR), independent living, and services for the blind and visually impaired. DRRI can also help you if you already receive these services.
Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services help you find or keep a job. You may receive these services from the Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS), Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBVI), or Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation (Tribal VR).
CAP can provide information about VR services, and help if:
- You are applying for VR services.
- You were denied VR services.
- You have concerns about your rehabilitation counselor.
- You are not satisfied with your VR services.
- You do not agree with the decision to close your case.
- You need employment services after you get a job.
- You are a student aged 14 to 21 and have questions about Pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS).
Independent Living Services are services that help you to live independently. These services are provided by the Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL).
CAP can provide information about OSCIL services, and help if:
- You need information to request a reasonable accommodation at work.
- You were denied services from OSCIL.
- You are not satisfied with your OSCIL services.
- You want to remain in your own home and need independent living services.
- You want help to move from an institution to the community.
CAP can also help if:
- You need information about employment rights under Title I of the ADA.
- You would like information about Assistive Technology (AT) or AT services.
- Need other help or information about ORS, SBVI, Tribal VR, or OSCIL.
These are not all DRRI’s CAP services. CAP can teach you about your employment rights and advocate for you. If you want more information or have questions, you should contact DRRI at (401) 831-3150 or info@drri.org.
