On Wednesday, Disability Rights Rhode Island issued a letter to Governor Gina Raimondo requesting an Executive Order to uphold healthcare rights for people with disabilities.
An Executive Order would enforce the RI Department of Health policy allowing individuals with disabilities to have an essential support person accompany them in the hospital, regardless of COVID restrictions.
Disability Rights Rhode Island is joined in this formal request by the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities and the Rhode Island Developmental Disabilities Council.
